Donggung Palace and Wolji Pond
Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk
Donggung and Wolji (Anapji) in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, is a palace pond created in the 14th year of King Munmu of Silla (674 AD), a historic space symbolizing the prosperity of Silla after the unification of the Three Kingdoms. Beautiful by day, it becomes even more spectacular at dusk when the lights come on, as the nighttime reflection of Imhaejeon Palace and pavilions in the pond shines fantastically, making it Gyeongju's premier night view destination. The walking path along the pond allows visitors to appreciate the reflected beauty of Silla architecture on the water's surface, with numerous photo spots offering diverse compositions. Silla artifacts excavated here are displayed at the nearby Gyeongju National Museum, making it an excellent companion for historical sightseeing.
