Incheon Chinatown

Jung-gu, Incheon

Incheon Chinatown in Jung-gu, Incheon, is Korea's only official Chinatown, formed after the opening of Incheon Port in 1883, a unique cultural space with over 100 years of history. Lined with Chinese restaurants and jjajangmyeon shops run by overseas Chinese, this is the birthplace of Korean-style jjajangmyeon (black bean sauce noodles), commemorated by the Jjajangmyeon Museum. Chinese-style gates called paeru, dragon sculptures, and red lanterns adorn the streets with an exotic atmosphere, and the nearby Jayu Park and Gaehangjang Modern History District make for a rewarding combined visit. Just a 5-minute walk away is Songwol-dong Fairy Tale Village, decorated with colorful storybook murals, cementing this area as a rich multi-attraction tourism destination.
