Namiseom (Nami Island)
Chuncheon, Gangwon
Nami Island in Namsan-myeon, Chuncheon, Gangwon Province, is a crescent-shaped artificial island formed by the construction of Cheongpyeong Dam, a tourist destination where nature and romance blend through its spectacular metasequoia tree-lined avenues in every season. It became a representative pilgrimage of Korean Wave tourism worldwide after being featured as a major filming location for the 2002 drama Winter Sonata. Each season brings a completely different landscape: flowers in bloom in spring, lush greenery in summer, autumn foliage in fall, and snowy scenery in winter. Visitors can reach the island by boat or zipline, with bicycle rentals, a sculpture park, and outdoor performances among the many attractions.
