Purple Island
Jeollanam-do
Sinan Purple Island consists of Banwol-do and Bakji-do, two small islands connected to Anjwa Island in Sinan County, South Jeolla Province. Since 2019, everything on the islands — rooftops, fences, bridges, and flower fields — has been painted or planted in shades of purple, creating a photogenic world unlike anywhere else in Korea. The view from the purple suspension bridge connecting the islands, looking down on the indigo sea and lavender fields, is ranked among the country's top Instagram locations. Lavender blooms in spring and balloon flower fields paint the islands blue-purple in summer, while purple umbrellas, bicycles, and props scattered throughout maintain the fairy-tale atmosphere year-round.
