Suncheonman Bay Wetland
Jeollanam-do
Suncheonman Bay Wetland, located in Suncheon, South Jeolla Province, is one of the largest coastal wetlands in East Asia and an internationally protected ecological treasure registered under the Ramsar Convention. Its vast reed marshes and the wetland's signature S-shaped tidal channels turn golden at sunset and are considered among the most scenic vistas in Korea, while elevated boardwalks winding through the reeds offer an immersive walk through nature in every season. From October through February each year, hundreds of thousands of migratory birds including the endangered hooded crane descend on the bay, making it one of the world's premier birdwatching destinations. The silhouette of the reed fields and meandering tidal channels seen from Yongsan Observatory at dusk is a lasting memory for every traveler who visits.
