Tongyeong Cable Car
Tongyeong, Gyeongnam
The Mireuksan Cable Car on Mirok Island in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, spans approximately 3.2 kilometers — one of the longest in Korea — running from the Donam tourist complex up to the summit of Mireuksan at 461 meters above sea level. The panoramic view of Hallyeosudo's island-strewn sea from the summit observation deck reveals at a glance why Tongyeong is called the Naples of the East, and on clear days the distant silhouette of Japan's Tsushima Island can be seen. During the roughly nine-minute ride, the Geogadaegyo Bridge, Tongyeong port, and the countless islands of the Southern Sea unfold in a sweeping panorama beyond the cabin window. The ridge in spring azalea season and autumn foliage season, with mountains and sea blending in vivid color, draws visitors throughout the year.
