Dongpirang Mural Village
Tongyeong, Gyeongnam
Dongpirang Village sits on a hillside overlooking Gangguhang port in Tongyeong, South Gyeongsang Province, and is renowned for its vivid murals covering every narrow alley. When demolition threatened the neighborhood in 2007, residents and artists collaborated to paint the walls, turning the entire village into an open-air gallery. From the hilltop, visitors enjoy a panoramic view of the harbor and the scattered islands of the Southern Sea, making it a favorite spot for photography. Strolling through the winding lanes at a leisurely pace and discovering each pastel-colored wall and hand-painted detail is the true pleasure of the place, earning it the affectionate nickname the Naples of Korea.
