Ganjeolgot Cape

A cape in Ulju-gun, Ulsan, at the southeast tip of the Korean mainland, famous as the very first spot on the peninsula to see the new year sunrise. On the wide lawn stand a white lighthouse, a giant postbox, and a wish postbox, lending the cape a distinctive, almost exotic look. A shoreline promenade runs along the coast, offering sweeping views of the open East Sea horizon. On New Year's Day crowds gather to welcome the first sunrise, and photos with the lighthouse and sea as backdrop are especially popular. The endless ocean view and bracing sea wind create a wide-open, exhilarating atmosphere.
